Import and Export Packages
To standardize the file export results from Revit across multiple Revit files, use Ideate ExportHub and the import/export options. A package file (.HUB) can be created to capture all relevant settings for re-use. Each package contains one or more subpackages, each of which includes four separate components that can be saved for re-use:
- Export Setup contains details unique to the specified file type. Learn more: Export Settings
- Export file naming rules
- Sheet/View Set details
- Export path locations
You can manage and reuse your export settings without the need to do any setup within Revit by using the tools in the Batch Export Package section of ExportHub:
- Import from an existing .HUB file, or
- Export to create a new .HUB file.
Components of a .HUB File
Each .HUB file is an XML-based container of standardized export settings. You can view or customize a sample file here: C:\ProgramData\Ideate\IdeateApps\en-US\Samples\ExportHub\Basic\Packages\PDF.hub
- Package Name: Display name of the package in ExportHub (example: PDF).
- Package Description: A brief description of the package’s purpose.
- Default Path: The path where the package will get exported to.
- Export Definition Name: Each subpackage name (example: PDF Individual, Archive).
- Export Setup: Format-specific settings linked to the export type (example: PDF options like Ideate-Individual), carried through from the Revit export setup.
- Sheet/View Set: Defines which sheets or views to export (Revit sheet/view set, dynamic filter, or manual selection), with support for sorting and filtering by parameters.
- Naming Rule: File naming convention, such as Sheet Number - Sheet Name.
- Path: The path in which the subpackage will get exported to.
- Subfolder: Enable subfolder creation for subpackages.
.HUB files make export management simple and powerful. These .HUB files are used by ExportHub and can also be referenced by Ideate Automation to run exports, manage configurations externally, and standardize outputs across projects. With a single file, you control export setups, naming rules, sheet/view sets, paths, and subfolders, removing repetitive Revit setup, ensuring consistency, and saving time across all your projects.
