When Ideate SpellCheck for Revit is unable to make a change, or the change presents a potential problem, a warning message will display within the dialog. See below for details on each type of warning with suggestions on how to address the related spelling errors.
There are several reasons why text or parameter values can be read-only. In these cases, only "Ignore" and "Add to Dictionary" actions are allowed. While these cannot be changed via Ideate SpellCheck, the tips below will assist in manually editing each type of read-only condition. The report at the end of Ideate SpellCheck process can also be used as a way to document which values will need to be reviewed separately.
The text values for keynotes are stored within a text (.txt) file that is stored outside of Revit. For this reason, Ideate SpellCheck cannot correct these types of errors, but will display them and flag them within the Report. To edit these values, find the keynote file which by default is stored here: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Libraries
If a spelling error occurs within a schedule, and the parameter is managed by a Global Parameter, then Ideate SpellCheck will not be able to make an edit. Ideate SpellCheck cannot correct these types of errors, but will display them and flag them within the Report. The error can only be resolved by editing the value from the Global Parameter dialog.
If a spelling error occurs within a schedule and the parameter is owned by an element that is nested, Ideate SpellCheck will not be able to make an edit. The error can only be resolved by opening the nested family, and editing the parameter value manually. You can refer to the Report at the end and use the Element ID to select and edit the family.
If a spelling error occurs within a schedule, and the parameter is driven by a Key Schedule, then Ideate SpellCheck will only be able to make the edit if the Key Schedule is edited first. This error can be avoided by opening the Key Schedule and using the option to check open Views or by checking All Schedules.
Text found within a Detail Group cannot be modified unless the Group is in edit mode. Ideate SpellCheck will ignore these errors but will flag them within the Report. Use the "id" listed within the report to find and edit each Group after Ideate SpellCheck has completed its work.
This error relates to worksharing projects. Ideate SpellCheck will ignore these errors but will flag them within the Report. You can refer to the Report at the end, use the "id" to select and fix the error when the workset can be borrowed.
If a spelling error occurs within an Ideate Sticky for Revit schedule, then Ideate SpellCheck will provide a warning. Typically the content of a Sticky is managed within the Excel file. You can either fix, or ignore these errors. If you fix the error, there is a risk that the fix will be overwritten when the Sticky is updated. If you choose to ignore the error, you can find a list of the Sticky-related errors later within the Report.
You can choose to use Ideate SpellCheck with Revit 2016 at your own risk due to an API limitation that prevents Ideate SpellCheck from knowing whether a text string is formatted or not.
If Ideate SpellCheck modifies a text note, any formatting of the text not managed by the Text Style will be removed. This includes but is not limited to bullets, numbering, bold, or italics. When the warning appears, we recommend selecting "Ignore" and reviewing the element in Revit using the report generated by Ideate SpellCheck.
To use Ideate SpellCheck at your own risk, you can rename the file called _IdeateSpellCheck.dll to IdeateSpellCheck.dll. This file can be found at: C:\Program Files\Ideate\Ideate Software 2016\IdeateApps
NOTE: This formatting warning applies only to text notes. Text found within Schedules cannot have special formatting and therefore can be safely edited by Ideate SpellCheck.
