Home

The Home page is the default opening dialog for Ideate Automation and also where active and previously completed task information can be reviewed. The Getting Started information is displayed by default when there are no tasks listed in the task list. This information will be in a collapsed state as soon as tasks are created. The Getting Started instructions can also be customized.

Task List

The task list is located at the bottom of the Home page and can display some or all Ideate Automation Tasks.

As each task is completed the Status, Date, Start Time, Duration and Task Name will be listed.
The Status options are either Completed, Completed with errors, Running, Queued, or Failed.

NOTE: There is an option to Show Scheduled Tasks that will allow you to see Tasks that have been scheduled to run unattended using the Schedule tool.

Task Tools

On the Home dialog you can find four task-related tools above the Task List: New, Repeat, Clone, and Schedule as shown above.

Additionally, there is a Copy Command function that is available via a right-click menu when a completed task is selected from the Task List. See below for important details related to each of these functions.

New

Use the New button to initiate a new automation task.

This will open the Create dialog and clear any in-progress state within the Create wizard.
A new task can be created while an existing task is still running.

Repeat

Once a task has been created it will display within the Task List where it can be selected and run again.

Select one of the completed tasks from the Task List to enable the Repeat button, then either pick the button or right-click and select Repeat.

The previous task and all of its predefined variables will be re-used and the new task instance will immediately be added to the Task List.

Clone

Similar to Repeat, the Clone button will recreate a previous task but allows users to edit the variable choices before the task runs.

You can also find the Clone Task option on the right-click menu when a task is selected within the Task List.

Schedule

If you want to schedule a task to run automatically, select it from the Task List and pick Schedule to launch the Scheduled Task Wizard.

Tasks that have been scheduled will appear in the Tasks Window where they can be managed.
The Task List here on the Home Page, also has an option to Show Scheduled Tasks.

Copy Command

The “Copy Command” option is only available from the right-click menu when you select a completed task from the Task List.

This option is used to capture the script (task + variables).

Open Log Location

When a completed task is selected from the Task List the Open Log Location button will become enabled and can be used to access a log file associated with the last task created with that same name. The folder contain the selected log will be opened. Additional logs created by any task with the same Task Name will also be in this folder.

The log files may be requested by the technical support team to diagnose any problems you may be having with Ideate Automation.

Show Details

The Show Details button will open the Task Log Details window. If the selected task has a Completed with Errors or Failure status, the Task Log Details will be scrolled to the primary error code, which will be highlighted with color as shown below. At the top of this dialog will be listed the primary error code for each file. Each of these can be selected to jump to the relevant part of the log details.
