Synchronizing Space and Room Numbers in Revit projects is crucial for maintaining coordinated drawings between the Architectural model and Mechanical project. Ideate ReNumber is a powerful tool that streamlines this process, offering flexibility and efficiency. This how-to topic provides a comprehensive guide on effectively utilizing Ideate ReNumber to synchronize Space and Room Numbers in Revit.
To take full advantage of this functionality, simply utilize the “Space Number from Room” rule we ship with Ideate ReNumber. Ensure your Revit Schedule is open to be utilized by the Auto-Number by View, including the Room: Number parameter to review the Room: Number parameter value reported from the linked file.
Here is how to perform this task; following the steps depicted in the image with the Revit schedule open:
1. Use the rule: “Space Number from Room”.
2. Edit Rule
3. You can see that we are targeting Space Category.
4. This rule will renumber the Space Number as the target parameter.
5. The field it’s reading the information from is Room Number.
6. Save and close
7. Then pick your renumbering method, in this case, Auto-Number by View. The view will be a Revit Schedule, the setup is highlighted below.
8. Then, Start Numbering!
As a result of applying this rule, Room Numbers from the linked model are transferred to the Space Numbers the main model. However, you may observe that spaces without corresponding rooms are not skipped, displaying as "Unoccupied."
To address this issue, there are 2 methods that can be used:
1. Manually deselecting elements where the Room Number should not be pushed.
2. Take advantage of our latest filtering feature in Ideate Renumber, which automatically selects elements for renumbering with filters. This filter rule selectively renumbers only those elements that align with the defined filtering criteria.
The first method requires performing these steps each time the rule is applied. Sort by New Value, then Shift+Select all "Unoccupied" entries, and finally, click "Element is ignored"
Here is the result from this method: you will notice that the Space Number remains unchanged.
The preferred second method eliminates the need for manual selection by automatically ignoring the elements that should be excluded. There are three sample rules that are included in this release. These rules will automatically load into any new project but will need to be manually imported into an existing project.
This Ideate ReNumber filter rule targets Spaces where their corresponding Room Numbers do not contain "Unoccupied".
