Navigate View-Based Elements within Revit with Ideate Explorer

Navigate View-Based Elements within Revit with Ideate Explorer

Navigate lets you browse the view-based elements within Revit: Legends, Schedules, Sheets and Views. These same view-based elements can also be found within theExplore tab. Navigate lets you customize your browsing experience on the fly without touching the Project Browser organization.

Each of the four view-based elements is organized to make searching easy:

Legends
Schedules
Sheets
Views

The Display Field in Ideate Explorer for Revit and Sort By Options for Revit with Ideate Explorer are not available while the Navigate tab is active while the Filter and Search settings have Navigate-specific functionality.

Legends

The legend view elements are organized first by Legend 'Type' and then by a View Template. While it is not common to have a View Template assignment for Legends, if there are many legends in the Revit project, it may be useful to take the time to assign them to a View Template; you can learn how on Autodesk's Revit Help. See below for an example.

Schedules

The Schedule view elements are organized first by Schedule 'Type' then by the data category, as shown below.

NOTE: Due to an Autodesk API issue, we have purposefully excluded Graphical Column Schedules from being selected via Ideate Explorer.

Sheets

The Sheets are organized first by whether or not they are part of the Sheet List, and then by whether they have Views or not, as shown.  Sheets that do not have views may have text or images placed directly on those sheets.

TIP: Use the Search function on the Navigate tab to quickly find only Sheets with the word "floor"

Views

The Views are organized first by whether or not they have been placed on a Sheet, and then by the View Type, as shown.  To see only the Views, and not the other view-based elements, use the built-in Filter called <Views>

TIP: Use the Search function on the Navigate tab to quickly find only Views with the word "1st floor"
