A warning symbol may display in several locations within Ideate ViewCreator, as detailed below. In each case the presence of the warning will prevent any new views from being created in Revit. This is to protect the innocent. Read onward to learn how to fix each warning type:

A warning next to a rule indicates that the rule is based on a property that does not exist or cannot be modified. See below for an explanation for each rule-based warning.
The warning errors “Property is controlled and cannot be set” and “Property is controlled and cannot prompt for input” occur when there are two competing properties that are trying to be set. For example, a view template (or view type that also sets a view template) could be setting a custom parameter value (or any view property value), while at the same time the Ideate ViewCreator rule could also be trying to set a conflicting value for that same parameter. Ideate ViewCreator cannot continue until this condition is resolved; the solution will be either edit the rule to remove the conflict, or to choose a rule that does not have a warning.
The warning error “The selected override value is not valid in this Revit project” indicates that the rule is trying to set a non-existent property, such as phase or view template. Ideate ViewCreator cannot continue until this condition is resolved; the solution will be either edit the rule or to choose a rule that does not have a warning.
The warning error “Unable to locate parameter in this Revit project” is an indication that the rule references a custom parameter that is not present in the current Revit project. To fix this warning you will need to either load the parameter into the project or use another rule.
A warning displayed within the Preview area, indicates that the proposed new view has a name or property setting that cannot be resolved. See below for an explanation for each view-specific warning.
The warning message “Name in use” is the most common error and indicates that there is either a view in the project with the same proposed name, or that the proposed new view list contains one (or more) duplicates. Revit does not allow duplicate view names, so the fix is to change the rule or edit the view name so that there are no more duplicates
The warning message “The selected override value creates a conflict” is similar to the rule-based warning “Property is controlled”. To resolve this error, remove the override settings within the Preview dialog.
The "Type value set by the rule is not valid for this view family" error message indicates that there is a type override, either within the rule or within the Preview dialog, which is not applicable for the selected view family. For example, a floor plan view cannot have a type override that references a ceiling plan type. The workaround would be to use a different rule, or to remove the type override.
This error messages can occur if a new dependent view is being created and the parent view is not available for editing. When a dependent view is created, a change to the parent view is also required by Revit, as the "Dependency" property value will change on the parent. The solution is to ensure access to the required parent views by asking others to relinquish back to the central file before proceeding.
This warning message can display on the rule or on an individual view. Refer to the information above for details on this warning.
The warning message “Property change to a parent view is disallowed” pertains to newly created dependent views when the rule attempts to make an override that is not allowed on the dependent (because it would also change the parent). Changes that are allowed to dependent views (without changing the parent) include: scope box or crop box, orientation, title on sheet, and custom parameters. To resolve this warning, remove any override to a property other than those noted.
The warning message “The View Template of the original view controls a parameter that this rule is trying to set” indicates a conflict between a view template assignment and a property override specified by the rule. To resolve this warning, remove the property override.
The warning message “Unable to set parameter, the parameter is read-only” would occur, for example, when applying a scope box to a view that has a custom cropbox shape. This warning cannot be avoided without changing the cropbox setting of the original view (it must be rectangular) or by removing the override to that parameter.
The warning message “This rule is only valid for dependent views” indicates that part of the view naming rules refers to the “Parent View”. This reference is only applicable for the creation of dependent views. To remove this warning you should either pick a different rule or modify the duplication choice to specify the creation of dependent views.
The view must have a name specified and cannot be blank.
