Ideate BIMLink has sophisticated data available for use in addressing complex host and tagged element challenges. Whether the conditions involve parent file or linked file data, BIMLink has you covered. See below for two examples: Auditing Tagged Data and Auditing Hosted Data.
In the following example, the goal is to be able to type swap placed tags based upon a property of the tagged element. For example, if the room has a certain area size or certain occupancy count or usage, then one room tag should be used, otherwise a different tag should be used. The sample link definition found in the \07 Quality Control folder called QC-Tags-Tagged_Element is available to use for this purpose.
The Tagged Element: Name property is designed to work with all model elements, including rooms and spaces. These Tagged Element properties work both in the parent file and when reporting on elements from a linked file!
In the following example, the goal is to be able to type swap placed elements based upon a property of the host. For example, if an electrical fixture is hosted on a standard wall, then one receptacle type should be used, while in thicker walls, a different type will be needed. The sample link definition found in the \07 Quality Control folder called QC-MC-Host_Data is available to use for this purpose. This multi-category link can be modified to include shared parameters and built-in parameters. To also include any custom family parameters you can create your own link using the specific data category.
To create your own link for another data category, such as Security Devices, just be sure to include the Family and Type parameter, which is needed in order to do the type swapping.
All of the Host, Host Wall, Host Ceiling, etc. properties are designed to work with all applicable model elements. These properties work both in the parent file and when reporting on elements from a linked file!
