Create New Worksets

Ideate BIMLink allows the creation of new Worksets in Revit using data from an Excel spreadsheet. This requires Worksharing to be enabled in the Revit model.

To create new Worksets:

In Ideate BIMLink, create a new Link using the Sample Link called "00 Workset-Create_NEW" as shown in the image below. See Creating Links for Revit with Ideate BIMLink and Export to Revit Elements to Excel with Ideate BIMLink.

Export the Link and open the file in Excel. New Worksets can be created by adding a ‘NEW’ value in the Id column in addition to the Name of the Workset(s). This is similar to other methods for creating new elements, such as new Rooms. See Create New Rooms or Spaces in Revit with BIMLink.
Note that we are also renaming ‘Workset 1’ to ‘Model Elements’ and we chose to make one of our new Worksets NOT Visible in all Views by default.

Finally, use BIMLink to Import the Excel data back into Revit and review the detailed Import Preview, including automatic highlighting of changed fields.
