The latest improvements to IdeateApps have been designed for use with Revit 2022-2025. All functionality is identical across Revit versions, unless noted otherwise. See below for a summary of the improvements and new tools added into the September 2024 and June 2024 releases.
You can also review videos related to the newer functionality within our YouTube What's New in Ideate Software playlist.
This release of IdeateApps for Revit versions 2022-2025 includes minor fixes to Ideate SpellCheck and Ideate QuickSelect. It also includes improved support for the newer Create from Scratch method with better handling for dependent view creation.
This release of IdeateApps includes several new workflows related to Ideate Annotate, which was originally added to IdeateApps in June 2022, and for Ideate ViewCreator. There are also several fixes and feature improvements related to Ideate ViewCreator,
ViewCreator includes many workflows that support batch creating new views from existing views. Now you can also batch create new views based on view types or view templates along with a selection of level, and scope box. This method also supports the creation of dependent views. Have you ever needed to insert a new sheet into a sequence of sheet numbers? If so, the new function called Number Down, which is within the SheetManager>Rename tool addresses this challenge by carefully re-incrementing the sheets within your existing project to allow room for the new sheet. Now, when hovering over the Category level of the element tree, a new right-click option of Select by Category is available. This option is also available in Ideate Explorer, as shown below, and is designed to limit a window selection to only the elements within the specified category.
To use this option:
The selected elements will be limited to only the category specified.
NOTE: This option is designed to maintain the previously selected items. When the selection window occurs, the current selection state will temporarily turn off (uncheck) but after the selection window is completed the previously selected items along with the new results will display.
By popular request the Annotate>Align tool has been improved with your feedback in three important ways. When cleaning up your documentation, you can now also align Generic Annotation elements alongside with the text, tags, and keynote elements. The handling of text elements during the alignment process has been changed to adjust the text box horizontal (left/right/center) alignment property, matching the selected text box alignment method at the same time. This new default behavior can be turned off in settings as shown below under Alignments.
Lastly, we have added the refinement of being able to control the vertical spacing, if desired, when using the Annotate>Distribute tool. Now you can choose to verticially distribute three or more selected annotative elements equally between the top and bottom or select a preferred vertial spacing and start from the top or bottom to distrubute each.
The Align and Clone solutions have been improved in this release to support matching the viewport title and length location for non-plan views. Previously this worked only for plan views but now it also works with elevation views, section views, 3d views, legends, and drafting views also.
In the previous version of Annotate>Tag, tags that were applied to elements that exist within a linked file were not able to benefit from the filtered portion of the Tag rules. Now, for example, when tagging linked Room elements from an MEP parent file, if the Tag rule includes a filter to only tag rooms with a certain Occupancy Load, only those rooms will be tagged, where previously all rooms would have been tagged.
ReNumber rules now have the ability to include a filter. Previously the only filter available was the “Ignore Parameter (yes/no)”. Now you can customize the ReNumber rule to only include elements that are in a certain phase or to ignore elements that are in a group, for example. There are three sample rules that are included in this release. These rules will automatically load into any new project but will need to be manually imported into an existing project.

In addition to the new workflows for ViewCreator noted above, this release also includes these improvements.
No one wants to spend time thinking about why something that should be visibile is not. In this release we’ve added three more methods to help resolve visibility issues. Each check comes with an image, text to explain the issue, and a related Help topic. When appropriate and safe, the check will also include an option to fix the problem. These improvements are a direct result of feedback via our customers who contacted our support team, thank you!
Lastly, we found and fixed a bug that related to tags which contain two calculated parameters which referenced each other. Due to an API error that erroneously reports these as empty values, these tags are now prevented from displaying under the Blank Tag issue.
