    Ensure Revit project and family file consistency by using Excel as a template from which you can push standards for Materials, Line Styles, and Object Styles into one or more Revit files. 

    In each case the out-of-the-box Ideate Automation scripts to use can be found under the 07 Data Management folder as shown below.

    Batch Import Materials from Excel

    The instructions below relate to batch importing a list of materials and their related properties from Excel into a Revit project file (RVT) via Ideate Automation. To learn how to import materials to one or more Revit family files, refer to Batch Import Materials from Excel to RFA

    Prepare the Excel File

    Create Materials

    1. Within Ideate Automation, select Create, then browse to the 07 Data Management folder as shown below.
    2. Select the IBL-Import_to_RVT script and fill out the values:
      • Select one or more Revit project files
      • Modify the “Sync with Central Comment” as appropriate.
      • Use the Browse button to select your Excel file, created earlier per the instructions above.
      • For the “Links to Import” first delete the existing two links, then use the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Ideate\Ideate Automation\en-US\Samples\Ideate Software Scripts\07 Data Management to find the link called Materials-Create_NEW as shown below.
    3. Select Next, then optionally adjust the Task Name.
    4. Select Run to start the task or Schedule to start it at a later time.

    1. Within Ideate Automation, select Create, then browse to the 07 Data Management folder as shown below.
    2. Select the IBL-Import_to_RVT script and fill out the values:
      • Select one or more Revit project files

      • For the “Links to Import” first delete the existing two links, then use the Browse button and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Ideate\Ideate BIMLink\en-US\Samples\04 Create Elements to find the link called 06 Line_Styles-Create_NEW.link.
    3. Select Next, then optionally adjust the Task Name.
    4. Select Run to start the task or Schedule to start it at a later time.

    Create Object Style Subcategories

    1. Within Ideate Automation, select Create, then browse to the 07 Data Management folder as shown below.
    2. Select the IBL-Import_to_RFA script and fill out the values:
      • Select one or more Revit family files OR “Select a folder” to pick a folder of family files.
      • Use the Browse button to select your Excel file, created earlier per the instructions above.
      • For the “Links to Import” first delete the existing two links, then use the Browse button and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Ideate\Ideate BIMLink\en-US\Samples\04 Create Elements to find the link called Object_Styles_RFA-Create_NEW.link
    3. Select Next, then optionally adjust the Task Name.
    4. Select Run to start the task or Schedule to start it at a later time.
