Make Room for New Sheets with Renumber Down
Have you ever needed to insert a new sheet into a sequence of sheet numbers? The function called Renumber Down, addresses this challenge by carefully re-incrementing the sheets within your existing project to allow room for the new sheet.
Use Ideate SheetManager and follow these steps:
- Select one or more sheets that will need to have their number changed in order to make room for the new sheet or sheets. Select the first sheet that needs to be renumbered along with any others in that numbering sequence that will also need to be modified.
- Right-click to pick Rename
- From within the Rename Sheets dialog, pick the sheet that is the first in the series that needs to be modified, then right-click to pick Renumber Down. In the example above the sheet A7.6 is selected and will be the first sheet number modified and will be incremented by 1. This requires that the existing sheet A7.7 will also need to be modified by 1 and so on.
- The results of the revised sheet numbers will be displayed. Any existing sheet number that is modified by this action is displayed with a Warning symbol, as shown below. In this example, only the A7.10 number did not previously exist, so it has no warning. Select OK to approve this change.
Tips:
- Only sheets that are in the dialog will be incremented. If the another sheet in the project needs to be modified in order to make room for the originally selected sheet, that subsequent sheet, and only that sheet will be modified but instead of it being incremented it will be renumbered with the suffix — Dup.
- Numbers and names can be modified directly in the dialog either before or after this process. If needed it is more useful to alter the number first, then use Renumber Down to take advantage of the auto-increment process.
Copy Legends or Schedules
Legends and schedules can be copied from one sheet to many sheets by selecting them from the Sheet browser within Ideate SheetManager, then using the right-click menu to Copy Legends/Schedules. Next, select any sheets in the project and use the right-click Paste Legends/Schedules option. The legends or schedules will be pasted onto the sheet in a similar location as the originally selected ones.
