Filtering Examples for Revit with Ideate BIMLink

How can I filter out Unplaced but keep Unbound Room/Space/Areas?

The sample link called Rooms-Finish_Data, which can be found within the Architectural sub-folder, is setup to exclude any unplaced Rooms and yet contains any Rooms that may be unbound.  This is done by using a filter based upon the Level: Name and using the Condition of "is not equal to" with a value of [empty], as shown in the image.

How can I only export Types that are in use?

The custom Ideate BIMLink 'Usage' properties can be used as a way to prevent un-used type-based data from being included within the export.  The sample links called Wall-Types_Used and Mechanical_Equipment_Types-Used both use the "Type Usage Count" as a filter to exclude any type from the list if it is un-used (must have more than 0).  Learn more about custom Ideate BIMLink properties.

How Many Sheets are Unused?

Understanding how many sheets are unused in a project can be a useful way of assessing  project status or the print-readiness state. But how can you find which sheets are unused and what constitutes unused? With the use of the custom BIMLink property called “Sheet Element Count” you can easily find sheets that have none of the following placed elements: views, legends, schedules, or images. The sample link called HC-Sheets displays this property though it is not used as a filtering property.

To return a list of sheets that have no views, legends, schedules, or images, edit any sheet-based link from the Filter tab and add the “Sheet Element Count” property, using a Condition of “is equal to” and a Value of 0. In the example below you might think that sheet E601 was also empty, based on the project browser, but it contains an important image.

TIP: Use both the “Is Placeholder” and “Sheet Element Count” properties as filters and be sure to also check the “Elements Must Pass All Filters” checkbox as shown below to ensure that placeholder sheets are ignored.
