Room/Space Views Method

The Element Views>Room/Space method should be used to expedite the batch creation of views (and optionally sheets) that are room- or space-based. Some of the tasks possible with this method include:

The Element Views method of creating new views begins with selecting the type of element from which the new views will be created. From the Type drop-down, pick one of the available elements.

Next, specify the Document that contains the room/space element(s); these can be in the Primary document or within one of the linked models. Next, specify the Phase and the Level. After adjusting both as needed, a list of any room/space elements associated with that level and phase will display.

By default this list will exclude room/space elements when an elevation view marker already exists. You can uncheck this option if needed.

There are two layout options available as shown below. The choice here will impact whether or not the newly created views will also be placed on a sheet. You can learn more about the Layout Rule or Clone Sheet layouts in this topic: Layout Options

When using a linked document for room/space element information, the main model needs to be setup as follows:
1.    The model with the room/space information needs to be linked into the main model.
2.    The level names need to match between the main model and linked model. For example, Level 1 and Level 01 won’t work. The names must be identical.

The list of room/space elements will display only those found within the linked file that exist on a phase that has been mapped to a phase within the parent file. Learn more in this Auotdesk Help topic: Map Phases Between Linked Files.

After the layout option is selected, the next step is to Preview & Create the views.
