Within the Browse and Review tabs of Annotate, you can find the Align and Distribute tools which can be used to align or distribute text, tags, or keynotes to keep your production documents neatly organized.
Align allows you to evenly justify multiple Text, Tag, Material and Keynote annotations in all directions. With one or more elements selected in the active view, pick the drop-down arrow to choose from the following distribution options.
The result will be that the selected elements will be left-aligned to the selected element.
Distribute allows you to evenly space multiple Text, Tag, Material and Keynote annotations vertically or horizontally. With three or more elements selected in the active view, pick the drop-down arrow to choose from Distribute Vertically or Distribute Horizontally. Be sure to try the Filter method to make the element selection part of the process even easier.
The result will be that the selected elements will be evenly spaced between the upper-most and bottom-most element. Refer to Settings to learn about options that relate to this feature.
When using the Align and Distribute tools, it is useful to also set the Filter in Annotate to Align and Distribute as shown below (#1). When you use the Selection Filter tool (#2) the rectangular selection window will ignore any element that is not defined by the filter. This means that you can easily grab all the text, tags, and keynotes without mistakenly also grabbing level lines, detail lines, etc. With just a few clicks, a messy detail can be transformed into clear and legible documentation.
Access the Settings dialog from the cog at the upper right-hand side of IdeateApps>Annotate as shown below to access settings related to the Distribute behavior.
The choices for Leader Elbow are None, Middle, Offset. These options impact the length of any existing leader elbow during a distribute function. When the value is 0, there is no attempt to maintain the leader elbow length. When the value is Middle, the new elbow location will be placed at the middle of the modified leader. See below for Offset.
When the Leader Elbow is set to Offset, this value is used to control the minimum distance to maintain on the leader elbow as it is relocated.
