Wall Views Method

The Element Views>Curtain Wall method should be used to expedite the batch creation of views (and optionally sheets) that are based on selected curtain walls.

The Element Views method of creating new views begins with selecting the type of element from which the new views will be created. From the Type drop-down, select Curtain Walls.

Next, specify the Phase and the Level. After adjusting both as needed, a list of any curtain wall elements associated with that level and phase will display.

By default this list will exclude curtain wall elements when an elevation view marker already exists. You can uncheck this option if needed.

There are three ways to select the desired curtain wall elements:

any curtain wall selected prior to launching Ideate ViewCreator will be pre-selected
double-click on any instance of a curtain wall from the UI shown above. This will zoom to a view where the wall can be seen (when applicable). Select the checkbox to pick the curtain wall(s) the elevate.
Use the Select Elements button to pick individual curtain walls from the active view. The selection will be filtered to only allow curtain wall elements.

Once the desired curtain walls are checked, review the option to select the Elevation Type. We recommend using a custom elevation type that has a view template assigned to control the desired output. Alternatively a custom ViewCreator rule can be used to apply just a view template.

The next step is to Preview & Create the views. After the views are created, the optional step to Create Sheets is available, with two view layout options to control view placement.
